• This afternoon the tamariki seemed to be enjoying the new sensory bottles, Ocean said look at he new skittles, and began trying to knock them down with balls. Mia, and Naomi enjoyed watching the glitter and other objects as they shook the bottles and the objects shone in the sun and moved around in the water. Nela tested out what would happen if he rolled the bottles down the ramp.
  • Isobel, Frankie, Natalie and Rose drew maps, and the pirates ran from one place to another. They ran from the big bad wolf as they followed their maps. They followed places to hide and rest. In the end, they found treasure.

  • The bottles seemed to offer calming sensory experience as the tamariki explored the different objects and colours inside the bottles, some of the tamariki were experimenting as they watched what would happen if they rolled the bottle down the ramp. Exploration/Mana aotūroa: Children become increasingly capable of playing, imagining, inventing and experimenting/ te whakaaro me te tūhurahura I te pūtaiao.
  • This group role played together for a long time. The journey changed many times along the way. They shared ideas and listened to each other to add to the role play. It was a fast action role play that moved into many of the areas at kindy and they used what was around then to add to the role play.

  • We will continue to offer open ended resources for the tamariki to explore.
  • I wonder what role plays they will come up with next week.
