At Pohutukawa Kindergarten, teachers develop strong, respectful relationships with every child and their whanau. These relationships help us plan a programme of activities and experiences that build on the skills and knowledge already possessed by your child, to further enrich and extend their development.

Our routines and programmes are designed to provide a curriculum that ensures all children at Pohutukawa Kindergarten have opportunities for developing positive learning outcomes. This includes knowledge, skills and attitudes that are relevant for each individual child. Teachers use current theory and practice, and encourage participation from children and caregivers to ensure the individual learning plan enables each child to grow to their full potential.
All aspects of our curriculum teach respect for each other, our kindy environment, and our resources. It acknowledges and reflects the unique place of Maori as tangata whenua, and the principles and dimensions of Te Wheke are reflected ialways. We try to ensure that all experiences provided consider and incorporate relevant tikanga and te reo as appropriate.
Te Whakiri

Children, parents and whanau are informed and welcomed to participate in the curriculum development. Teachers ensure experiences planned reflect the culture and identity of the children enrolled at Pohutukawa Kindergarten.
Our PlanningPlanning occurs on a regular basis and is based on assessments of the current programme, children’s needs and interests as individuals and as a group.
We'd love to have your child join our Whānau.
