
This impressive team has a wide and varied experience from a variety of eduactional backgrounds. The team works in two branches and are led by Sarah. Phillippa and Stacey are based in the Huero room caring for our little seedlings providing a warm and secure environment as they become familiar with life at kindy. Natasha and Kate work in the Puawai room where the blossoming tamariki explore their creativity and drive their learning in a well resourced environment.
Our Glendowie Centre is open from 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Here at Pohutukawa Glendowie, we have excellent teacher child ratios with 1 teacher for every 6 children.
We have a license for 36 children aged 2- 5 year olds. We prefer to keep each day at 30 for quality purposes
Parents provide lunchboxes for morning tea meal. At lunchtime we have a fruit platter and children make their own sandwiches.

Yes. Local schools and past families have found the children transition to school with ease and with all the skills and knowledge for successful start to their learning. There is a special time set aside every afternoon for the older children to be involved in extra activities.

Our Glendowie Centre staff turnover is very low. Our head teachers have been working in the company for 10 plus years. Other staff have been between 1-10 years. Several returning after maternity leave, while others were students with us first then chose to return as employees.
Pohutukawa Glendowie is open for school holidays and attendance is optional. You can have your children cared for or take a fee break and have them at home with you.
Traditionally, kindergartens offered shorter session days with a strong focus on education through play. While we provide longer opening hours to support modern family needs, education through play remains at the heart of our programme. This is complemented by quality care, consistent routines, and stable staffing to help create a secure and supportive environment for children throughout the day.
No, our Glendowie Childcare Centre is owner-operated, offering a warm, home-away-from-home environment for children and their whānau. Melanie, our Centre Manager, is fully qualified and brings many years of experience in early childhood education. Building strong relationships with our families is one of our core values, and we pride ourselves on creating a caring, supportive, and welcoming community.
