Waitangi Day is a special day in Aotearoa and every year we like to share with the children the significance of it. We explain that it’s a day when we remember a very important agreement called Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi), which was signed a long time ago in 1840.

This term we have focussed on belonging, culture and community. We have celebrated our individuality, similarities and differences, through portraiture and family waka. We have explored Auckland through landmarks: the Sky Tower, Auckland Harbour Bridge and volcanic cones (Rangitoto).
